CareTV Room Clock Requirements + First Public Utility

The open dementia clock will be the first immediately useful public CareTV promotion on CareTV.org.

The public utility is intentionally tiny: a static web page that anyone can open in Chrome, bookmark, download, mirror, or host themselves.

1. Minimal CareTV room-clock appliance requirement

There are no other software requirements for the hardware reference. CareTV does not require a signage platform, kiosk-management service, vendor launcher, proprietary cloud, free plan, paid plan, or native CareTV Android application.

The useful application can simply be a CareTV-owned web page opened in Chrome.

2. First public useful CareTV page

CareTV Open Dementia Clock is included in this package as a single self-contained HTML file.

No external JavaScript libraries.
No database.
No PHP or server runtime.
No API required for the basic clock.
No vendor account.
No vendor cloud.
No recurring fee.
Uses the browser/device's local time.
Large time, day of week, full date, and MORNING / AFTERNOON / EVENING / NIGHT orientation cue.
Responsive from small Android displays through large televisions.
Downloadable and mirrorable.

Because it is a static file, hosting traffic is ordinary static-object delivery. It is suitable for an inexpensive static web host/CDN and does not need an always-running application server.

3. Public/open distribution rule

The CareTV clock should be easy for a family, caregiver, school, integrator, researcher, or developer to use without buying CareTV hardware.

A visitor should be able to open https://caretv.org/dementia-clock/, use it immediately, full-screen it, download the HTML source, host it elsewhere, and modify it for their own accessibility needs.

4. Why browser-first matters

A browser-based CareTV endpoint separates the useful interface from a particular hardware vendor. The same clock can run on an inexpensive Android display with Chrome, a tablet, a PC, or a television-connected browser.

The hardware appliance still has an important acceptance test: after AC power returns, it should boot automatically and reconnect to Wi-Fi. Everything above that level can remain CareTV-owned web content.

5. Real-home reference locations

6. Version history rule

Every material new requirement, corrected assumption, newly verified capability, rejected dependency, or deployment decision receives another numbered HTML version. Older versions remain available as part of the public development record.

This v004 records the decision that the first public CareTV utility will live on CareTV.org and that the room-clock hardware requirement is only Android + Chrome plus the necessary orientation/network/power-recovery behavior.
