Beginner Android 24/7 appliance setup + public clinic/senior-organization distribution
The clock is intended to become a free useful CareTV web application that doctors, clinics, senior associations, families, caregivers, and community organizations can recommend without requiring new hardware.
A public clock is not enough. CareTV must explain how a beginner can turn compatible Android hardware into a dependable powered appliance.
The new setup page covers permanent power, Wi-Fi, Chrome, Android Developer Options Stay awake while charging, disabling screen savers and scheduled power-off behavior, avoiding unwanted battery saving, CareTV dimming/fullscreen controls, restart testing, and AC-loss testing.
Battery-backed continuity is not the same as automatic cold boot.
An ordinary tablet with a working battery may ride through short AC outages without Android shutting down. That is excellent for CareTV. But if Android fully powers off, automatic boot when AC returns depends on the device's hardware/firmware. It is not a universal Android setting.
Similarly, standard Android does not expose one universal setting that guarantees Chrome will auto-launch after every cold boot. Any such capability must be verified on the exact device or provided by its OEM configuration.
The installation burden belongs to the installer, not the resident. The resident should not have to understand Android, Chrome, Wi-Fi, sleep settings, browser modes, or recovery procedures.
The public documentation should therefore be written for first-time helpers and community organizations, while the resident-facing clock remains extremely simple.
CareTV should explicitly encourage reuse of old Android tablets where safe and practical. A device discarded because it lacks HDMI output or is too old for another job may still have everything this application needs: Android, Chrome, Wi-Fi, a screen, and continuous power.
